Benefits of Twin Tec™ Filter
The Filtrona Twin Tec™ filter innovatively combines two technologies to provide optimum performance as well as visual differentiation. It uses different types of material in a coaxial configuration with a shaped section forming the central core. When used with cigarette ventilation, the filter can give a significant reduction of carbon monoxide and other vapour phase gases without reducing tar levels by the same factor in a ventilated cigarette.

Construction of Twin Tec™ Filter
The Twin Tec™ filter consists of two types of high-quality crimped cellulose acetate fibres in a coaxial formation; an inner core, which can be produced with a variety of shapes, is encased in an outer cylinder. Alternatively the shaped core can be constructed from paper to further increase the flexibility of this filter. The different materials selected for the inner and outer components are utilized to design the flow paths of different pressure drop and/or filtration efficiency. The filter is wrapped in an outer plugwrap which can be standard or porous depending on the required ventilation.
A wide range of shapes, material combinations, lengths, and circumferences can be specifically tailored to the cigarette. This allows the control of the smoke flow, the levels of tar and nicotine retention, the reduction of carbon monoxide present, and the draw resistance. The Twin Tec™’s excellent flexibility ensures each construction is precisely designed to suit the taste and filtration requirements of the customer and enhance a particular brand.
