WORKING TOGETHER

Development Facility

Our filter piloting capabilities are unique in the industry and facilitate the rapid manufacture of high-quality, machine-produced samples for testing and evaluation. The Technology Centre is equipped with a comprehensive range of exceptionally flexible and specialised filter machines which are capable of producing virtually all of the filters in the existing Filtrona portfolio.

Our on-site engineering design capabilities ensure these machines can be modified, or added to, to manufacture innovative filter concepts, usually within weeks of the original idea. These unique capabilities facilitate rapid delivery to the market for new products, and therefore maximise the competitive advantage.

The Technology Centre has the ability to produce high quality prototype filters for scientific evaluation and consumer research. This has both cost and reliability advantages over hand-made alternatives and the investment in full machine development without guaranteed market success. With many years of experience, our highly skilled development team are able to rapidly delivery high-quality, machine-produced samples, and therefore turn an idea into reality.

Our new product capabilities include:

New Filter Constructions
The Development Team can employ an extensive range of specialised equipment to produce totally new or modified filter constructions within a short space of time. Filters can be produced with multiple segments, both in a conventional style or co-axial configuration. These designs can be quickly developed to include complex combinations of cavities, segments, or additives, engineered to optimise overall performance.

New Materials
In our development hall we have the technology and design capability to make filters from many different types of filtration media. These include tow, staple fibre, paper, laminate, and non-woven materials. All can be converted into filters for testing and evaluation. Furthermore, capsules and other devices may be inserted into the filters.

New Additives
Our team is constantly investigating new granular absorbents, liquids, flavours, and organic materials (e.g. herbs, cloves, and many more). These can all be added to filters via a series of processes available to our team and new challenges can be quickly accommodated.
