Benefits of Active Paper™ Filter

The Filtrona Active Paper™ filter combines the characteristics of three different filtration materials with the benefit of added activated carbon to provide a filter with a high level of tar and nicotine retention.

The Active Paper™ filter also offers a number of other key benefits:

• High tar and nicotine retention
• The activated carbon results in a reduction of vapour phase and semi-volatile components in mainstream smoke for a given tar delivery, without increased levels of ventilation
• Paper segment degrades quicker than segments constructed with cellulose acetate 
• Brand identity through the use of activated carbon

Construction of Active Paper™ Filter

The Active Paper™ filter consists of two segments. The tobacco segment is constructed with paper which is coated with an activated carbon material, while the mouth segment is high-quality crimped cellulose acetate.

Both segments are enclosed in a plugwrap which can be either standard or porous depending on ventilation requirements. Alternatively, the mouth segment can use non-wrapped acetate for a high-quality end appearance. The filter segments are then wrapped in an outer plugwrap which can also be standard or porous depending on the required ventilation. 

A wide range of configurations, lengths, circumferences, and additive loadings and types can be selected. This ensures each construction is precisely designed to suit the taste and filtration requirements of the customer and enhance a particular brand.
