The Filtrona Coaxial Core filter uses different types of material in a coaxial configuration which, when used with cigarette ventilation, can give a significant reduction of carbon monoxide and other vapour phase gases without reducing tar levels by the same factor in a ventilated cigarette.
The distinct benefits of the Coaxial Core filter are:

The Coaxial Core filter consists of two types of high-quality crimped cellulose acetate fibres in a coaxial formation; an inner core encased in an outer cylinder. Alternatively the core can be constructed from paper to further increase the flexibility of this filter. The different materials selected for the inner and outer components are utilized to design the flow paths of different pressure drop and/or filtration efficiency.
The inner core may be formed in a variety of cross-sectional shapes or a coloured membrane may be used for product differentiation or anti-counterfeiting purposes.
The inner core component is normally wrapped in non-porous paper before being enclosed in the outer component. The filter is then wrapped in an outer plugwrap which can be standard or porous depending on the required ventilation.
A wide range of material combinations, lengths, and circumferences can be selected. This allows the control of the smoke flow, the levels of tar and nicotine retention, the reduction of carbon monoxide present, and the draw resistance. The Coaxial Core Filter’s excellent flexibility ensures each construction is precisely designed to suit the taste and filtration requirements of the customer and enhance a particular brand.
