Benefits of Long Bore SAF™

The Filtrona Long Bore SAF™ (Shaped Acetate Filter) is an uncharacteristically long filter constructed with a hole placed at the mouth end of the filter. This novel end appearance can be further enhanced by shaping the hole into various styles.

Construction of Long Bore SAF™

The Long Bore SAF™ consists of high-quality crimped cellulose acetate fibres which are bonded together with a controlled amount of plasticiser. Additional plasticiser and cellulose acetate means that the structure of the Long Bore SAF™ is firmer than the standard Mono-Acetate filter to ensure a quality end appearance.

The cellulose acetate is formed around a mandrel to create a void in the material. The mandrel can be altered to leave a choice of shapes at the mouth end of the filter.

The filter is enclosed in an outer plugwrap which can be either standard or porous depending on ventilation requirements.

The shape and dimensions of the hole, filter tip length, and pressure drop can be varied to suit the taste and filtration requirements of the customer and enhance a particular brand.
