Benefits of the Strand™ filter

The Filtrona Strand™ Filter consists of a thick extruded filament placed in the centre of the filter.  The advantage over traditional Flavour Threads is that it can be shaped or coloured to suit individual brand requirements.  The extruded filament can be from less than 1mm upwards.

Construction of the Strand™ Filter

The Strand™ filter consists of an acetate filter with a flavoured additive. It is constructed with high-quality crimped cellulose acetate fibres which are bonded together with a controlled amount of plasticiser to give a firm structure. This is enclosed in an outer plugwrap which can be either standard or non-porous depending on the ventilation requirements.

The specially developed extruded filament, which can be shaped and coloured to suit the brand, is embedded into the cellulose acetate. The extruded filament is careful positioned in the centre of the filter and control of the level of flavouring ensures the flavour is diffused uniformly throughout the body of the filter and is easily taken up by the smoke stream.

The filter tip length, circumference, pressure drop and flavour strength and type, extruded filament shape and colour can be varied to suit the taste and filtration requirements of the customer.
