Construction of Menthol Thread Filter

The Menthol Thread filter consists of an acetate filter with a flavoured additive. It is constructed with high-quality crimped cellulose acetate fibres which are bonded together with a controlled amount of plasticiser to give a firm structure. Alternatively, this filter can be constructed using paper for a higher tar and nicotine retention. This is enclosed in an outer plugwrap which can be either standard or non-porous depending on the ventilation requirements.

The flavour is added by embedding a specially developed thread in the cellulose acetate or paper. Specific amounts of the menthol flavour can be precisely added to the filters and higher loadings can be achieved using multiple threads.

Careful positioning and control of the level of the menthol additive ensures the flavour is diffused uniformly throughout the body of the filter and is easily taken up by the smoke stream.

The filter tip length, circumference, pressure drop, and menthol flavour loading can be varied to suit the taste and filtration requirements of the customer.
