A Filtrona Menthol Direct Spray filter provides an effective method of adding menthol flavour to cigarettes to enhance the tobacco blend or extend the range of the existing brand. This filter is available in both slim and super-slim variants.

Construction of Menthol Direct Spray Filter

The Flavour Direct Spray filter consists of an acetate filter with a flavoured additive. It is constructed with high-quality crimped cellulose acetate fibres which are bonded together with a controlled amount of plasticiser to give a firm structure. Alternatively, this filter can be constructed using paper for a higher tar and nicotine retention. This is enclosed in an outer plugwrap which can be either standard or non-porous depending on the ventilation requirements.

The menthol is added by spraying the flavour directly on to the cellulose acetate or paper. Specific amounts of the flavour can be precisely added to the filters.

Careful positioning and control of the level of flavouring ensures the flavour is diffused uniformly throughout the body of the filter and is easily taken up by the smoke stream.

The filter tip length, circumference and pressure drop can be varied to suit the taste and filtration requirements of the customer.
