Tobacco Specific Nitrosamines

Nitrosamines can be found in latex products such as condoms and balloons, and in many foodstuffs, especially beer and fish.  Tobacco Specific Nitrosamines (TSNA) is a form of nitrosamine only found in tobacco and includes the following chemicals:

  • NNN, N-Nitrosonornicotine
    The most abundant tobacco-specific nitrosamine
  • NAB, N-Nitroanabasine
  • NAT, N-Nitroanatabine
  • NNK, 4-(N-nitrosomethylamino) – 1 – (3-pyridy) – 1-butanone
